I once had a purple & yellow rep trie. I bought it in 2003 while still in high school. It's colors were my school colors. It was Abercrombie & Fitch. It was actually quite nice. I gave it to a friend years later, I think in 2010, as a token of appreciation. He liked the tie, helped me with something, and so I gave it to him. I really wish I still had that tie. Recently, I saw a picture of myself in high school, wearing that tie, it was nice.
Purple & yellow is a nice combination. If the purple is too brilliant or the yellow too bright, it is too much for me. Of course. But, to have a nice muted, covered purple and a warm yellow. I think it's a beautiful combination. It is a very autumnal setting, that is certainly true. Put in an orange element and you find yourself right in the center of October. That being said, I also don't think it is a crime against humanity to wear it in other seasons.
Today, I am combining the purple hunting motif Polo Ralph Lauren Tie I found at a thrift store last week with a yellow OCBD. The yellow of the J. Press OCBD is muted and warm and the purple in the tie is rich, but not brilliant. The tie is wool, not silk, so the appearance is very muted, covered. It's just right for me, in this setting. The sport coat is herringbone, warm brown with reddish undertones.
